Minaudières: Mini Bags with a Mighty Backstory | Designer Minaudière & Luxury Handbag Collection

May’s bag of the month is our brand-new designer minaudière, available in a fabulously colourful Kutnu fabric weave and sleek monochrome satin. These mini evening bags are perfect for women seeking a luxury handbag that’s both unique and elegant.

My long-term love of handmade minaudières inspired these beautiful mini bags. I’m obsessed with their chic, sculptural silhouette, creating statement clutches that are small yet impactful, like tiny works of art. With our new season, I wanted to bring that structural, minimalist design into our collection of contemporary handbags.

Minaudières have an incredible history. The name itself refers to “coquettish women,” and these 1920s-inspired handbags were beloved by the trailblazing flappers who favoured their essentials-only size - perfect for a night spent dancing. Today, a modern minaudière is still the go-to special occasion bag for women who want to make an impression.

When designing mine, I wanted to celebrate heritage as well as modernity. I discovered Kutnu fabric, a traditional Turkish textile made from silk and cotton, exclusively woven in Gaziantep. Once reserved for Ottoman courts, this heritage textile is experiencing a vibrant craft revival in the area. Choosing Kutnu for our artisanal handbags felt truly special.

To let the stunning fabric shine, I kept the shape clean and minimal. The sleek, curved outline also works beautifully with the solid colour and rich finish of our monochrome satin clutches, creating a much more graphic, modern look. Each version explores both traditional and contemporary bag design, striking the balance I love; celebrating artisanal crafts in a way that truly works for the modern woman’s wardrobe.
